Spent a weekend at Itasca state park in the fall. Have not been back since I was a kid. Very clean and family friendly. Money well spent.
We stayed at a site in the poplar loop. Sites very nice and shaded but definitely on the small side compared to other state parks. We stayed mid week in June and it was nice that our loop was only about 25% full. One morning there was quite a bit of "construction" noice. Bathrooms and showers very clean and well maintained.
I met the new hosts at the Pine Ridge Campground while passing through on a coast to coast bicycle tour. Chuck and Eileen were warm and helpful, beyond the norm for sure. The park is beautiful and the campground spotless with great bathroom/shower facilities. With Chuck and Eileen included, it is the best.
Enjoying a very clean quiet Campground. Rode bike to the headwaters of the Mississippi. Nice paved trail. Beautiful scenery.
Based on a single winter camping experience, this was a really neat place. Impressed by the size (big) and also the winter facilities...just put toilet but actually quite nice as far as those things go.
